Club History

Possum Trot Pony Club started out of a barn in the hills of Brown County Indiana in 1996. The club was named because of its origin on the grounds of the Possum Trot Winery . Possum Trot Pony Club started as a small club with 5 or 6 members and has grown to almost 20 in number today. Members have come from as far as Paoli to Crawfordsville Indiana with most residing around the Bloomington to Greenwood line.

Possum Trot has participated in many of the United States Pony Club activities such as foxhunting, polocrosse, mounted games, tetrathalon, quiz, dressage and eventing. Our club has been very successful over the years with many members competing at various local, regional and national rallies. Some members have gone on to compete with great success at the national and international championship level. Many of our club members have become very competitive in eventing and dressage and showmanship.

Possum Trot prides itself on developing a stronge understanding of horsemanship and stable management along with learning the basics of English riding. Mounted and unmounted meetings and clinics with a variety of instructors are the back bone of our instructional program. Our parents and volunteers are what keep Possum Trot running as efficiently as it does. Old and new friendships are molded, some that shall last for a lifetime.
